A long overdue post
Random thoughts for today for my blog: It’s a scorching 41 degrees outside, making it less than ideal for any outdoor activities. During the summer months in Dubai, my husband and I only step out in the evenings for dinners or to meet up with friends. Nevertheless, Dubai is a beautiful city that has been my home for 14 years and counting. I first arrived in 2009, right in the midst of summer. Despite the extreme weather, I quickly fell in love with the culture and the people.
When COVID-19 hit the city in 2020, I felt an immense sense of security thanks to the efficient governance in Dubai. It gave me peace of mind during such uncertain times.
One of my favorite spots, which happens to be conveniently located near my home, is the JBR beach. Just a short 5-minute drive away, this place has become a sanctuary for my husband and me. It’s a popular tourist spot with plenty of restaurants and stores to explore.
Apart from routine visits to clinics and hospitals, the Dubai Mall has become our go-to place. We often stroll around, using it as an opportunity to unwind and destress, rather than focusing on shopping. Additionally, my husband enjoys his regular gym sessions for the sake of his health.
Even after all these years, I still get excited about playing the tourist in Dubai and discovering new hidden gems. It seems like new cafes and attractions are constantly popping up, bringing freshness to the city. Recently, I even learned how to use Apple Pay, and although I was initially embarrassed about my tech learning curve at my age, it’s been a convenient tool.
Our journey in Dubai has been like a roller coaster ride, filled with ups and downs. I appreciate every step of this journey, whether it’s been smooth sailing or more challenging.
Enough about my experiences, I’d love to hear about yours! What has been your favorite place so far, and how has your experience been?

I’ve never been to Dubai but would love to visit one day! One of my favorite places I’ve been so far would be either Dublin or Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.

I have Dubai on my list of travel for next year. I’ve heard it is a wonderful place to visit, I haven’t traveled in a longgg time. Guess it’s time to get back to doing some traveling since COVID has come down.

Oh wow….14 years is a whole lifetime in one place! Save for the excessive heat, I’d like to be in Dubai for a while. I hear great things about the infrastructure there.
