Mind Mapping

A mind Map is a graphical representation of ideas and concept. It is a thought illustrated visually and used to better understand and generate ideas. Just like in every concept, the greatest one always comes with simplicity. I do mine in times of Idle, but usually I just put it on a blank paper and make some doodles. This resembles much more closely how your brain works. This scheme is logical and creative plus it engages your brain in much, much, productive way! And to top it all, this brings you glee!

So how does it look like? It depends, how creative you are! Benefits of this will be of course your effectivity in planning and time management. It is a smarter method on how to have a sensible work-life balance. To inspire you here’s the sample mind mapping from Paul Foreman

This might be a bit complex, but bear with me: once you break the habit of linear note taking, you won’t look back. No one had seen mine actually LOL, keeping to myself. Not sure if my husband had seen any’ but if he does, for sure he might think that it’s one of my crazy doodles.

Satisfaction and what for?

I believe I already had mentioned the benefits of mind mapping and how does it work. Basically, in layman’s term mind mapping avoids boring, linear thinking and leads you to innovative ways of making note’ thus excitement begins when it seems feasible.

When can we use it

  • Note Taking
  • Brains storming (You may use sticky notes)
  • Research
  • Designing
  • Drafting
  • Planning
  • Writing

It depends, there is an endless way of how & when will you use mind mapping. The truth is that this can help you clear your fogging mind. Once you have the Main Goal set branches will just follow.

How to Start

  • Of course, start with a blank page. (I usually preferred A4)
  • You should have your central topic followed by subtopics
  • Replicate the process for subtopics
  • De Clutter, don’t put things which are not necessary

Be Creative

  • Use colour markers if necessary! I do this to central topic and subtopics
  • Topics should be short and just bulleted
  • Mind your text size to emphasize important points

Final Thoughts

Mind mapping is an engaging activity, it’s like exercise for the brain. Please give it a try and do it for fun. You’ll never know it might end up a habit for you. For bloggers this will also help you structure your niche.

I love conceptual mind maps. I am a pretty non-linear thinker myself and though I often make lists when I start my day or my week, I prefer to map out visually how things relate to each other. This is why a blank piece of paper is so much more awesome that a lined notebook sometimes, or even a keyboard, which restricts us to a very linear mode of expression. Thanks for sharing this example. Perhaps if we could map out our thoughts and concepts when studying instead of taking “linear” notes, the concepts would be easier to remember and more tangible to us and therefore more easy to integrate into our thinking. Worth considering. 🙂

putting your thoughts on a blank sheet of paper will boost our creativity, sometimes I do some exaggerations too… anyway our ideas are not limited anymore… we can go beyond crazy as well 🙂
Sticky notes comes handy as well for me, running out stocks lately LOL

thanks for always visiting my post.
      Appreciate!
      enjoy your day 🙂

I really LOVED how you have described mind maps! I really like making lists of what needs to be done, I kind of think that putting things down on paper illustrates life a little better. I also really enjoy making things colorful because it adds a little personal effect. Thank you so much for sharing this fabulous example, it really helped give a much better understanding of mind maps and how beneficial they can be!

Although I have my outlook to remind me of what’s next.. I still preferred the conventional way of scribbling.. 🙂
